Pharmacology and mechanism of action
Naproxen and other NSAIDs have produced analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins. The enzyme inhibited by NSAIDs is the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme. The COX enzyme exists in two isoforms: COX-1 and COX-2. COX-1 is primarily responsible for synthesis of prostaglandins important for maintaining a healthy GI tract, renal function, platelet function, and other normal functions. COX-2 is induced and responsible for synthesizing prostaglandins that are important mediators of pain, inflammation, and fever. However, there are overlapping functions of the mediators derived from these isoforms. Naproxen is a nonselective inhibitor of COX-1 and COX-2. The pharmacokinetics of naproxen in dogs and horses differ substantially from people. Whereas in people the half-life is approximately 12-15 hours, the half-life in dogs is 35-74 hours and in horses is only 4-8 hours, which can lead to toxicity in dogs and brief duration of effects in horses.
Indicaiton:
antipyretic analgesic and anti-inflammatory anti-rheumatism. Apply to
1. Virus disease (cold, swine pox, pseudo rabies, wen toxicity, hoof fester, blister, etc.), bacterial disease (streptococcus, actinobacillus, deputy haemophilus, pap bacillus, salmonella, erysipelas bacteria, etc.) and parasitic diseases (with blood red cell body, toxoplasma gondii, piroplasmosis, etc.) and mixed infection caused by a high body temperature, unknown high fever, spirit is depressed, loss of appetite, skin redness, purple, yellow urine, difficulty breathing, etc.
2. Rheumatism, joint pain, nerve pain, muscle pain, soft tissue inflammation, gout, disease, injury, disease (streptococcus disease, swine erysipelas, mycoplasma, encephalitis, vice haemophilus, blister disease, foot-and-mouth canker syndrome and laminitis, etc.) caused by arthritis, such as claudication, paralysis, etc.
Administratio and Dosage:
Deep intramuscular injection, a quantity, horses, cattle, sheep, pigs 0.1 ml per 1 kg weight.
Storage:
Store in a dry, dark place between 8°C and 15°C.
